Nuby and [[Scott Bondy]] formed the band [[Verbena]] while students at [[Mountain Brook High School]].  He was originally the guitarist when it was known as Shallow, but left the band.  He later rejoined as the drummer.  Verbena recorded three albums, two of which were on Capitol Records, but disbanded in [[2003]].  He later toured with Amy Ray (of the Indigo Girls) as part of her solo tour.  He has also played in [[Taylor Hollingsworth]]'s backup bands.

Nuby is currently the guitarist for Vulture Whale. His sister, Leslie Nuby, is a visual artist and musician.
