2007
- Commuter rail on existing CSX trackage between Birmingham and Ross Bridge was studied by Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos in 2007, but CSX would not agree to share the track and building a new route would cost up to $600 million.
- Birmingham mayor Larry Langford's Birmingham Economic and Community Revitalization Ordinance included earmarks for improvements to the existing Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority as well as for Heritage streetcars to run along 18th Street North.

- Birmingham City Council-member John Katopodis once proposed a monorail connecting Vulcan Park to the Birmingham Zoo.
