U. S. Highway 11 (also referred to as U.S. Route 11) is a 1,645 mile long north-south United States highway. The route, created in 1926, closely follows that original plan. As of 2004, the highway's northern terminus is in Rouses Point, New York at the Canadian border. Its southern terminus is in the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge near Lake Pontchartrain, in eastern New Orleans, Louisiana at an intersection with U. S. Highway 90. Along the way, Highway 11 traverses Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

In Alabama, Highway 11 broadly parallels I-59 to Birmingham then the I-59 and I-20 to the Mississippi state line. Throughout Alabama, U.S. 11 is paired with unsigned State Highway 7.

Major cities in Alabama along the route include Fort Payne, Attalla, Ashville, Springville, Argo, Trussville, Birmingham, Bessemer, Tuscaloosa, and Eutaw.
