The UAB Police & Public Safety Department is a police department which conducts law enforcement operations and physical security at the UAB campus and UAB Medical Center. The 120-person department is headed by Associate Vice President and Chief of Police Anthony Purcell. It is housed at the UAB Police Headquarters, which was completed in 2018 at 1117 14th Street South.
The Department is divided into divisions handling campus patrols, criminal investigations, hospital security, professional standards, and housing/special operations. Special units handle accreditation, communication, compliance, crime prevention and training.
Before moving into its current headquarters, the department's offices were located at 1720 2nd Avenue South.
