This is a list of Birmingham homicides by year, giving the number of reported homicides within the city limits.

This list is incomplete. You can help by adding to it.

Notes

  1. 1992 was a record year for homicides in Birmingham. A total of 148 were recorded, of which seven were ruled justifiable, leaving 141 on the books.
  2. A 2007 UAB study found that the percentage of victims seriously injured by violence who survived their injuries increased from 24% to 41% between 1997 and 2007. Of 2,318 people brought to UAB Hospital's trauma center over those years, 2,211 survived. (Meaning that 107 homicide victims died at UAB Hospital during those years.)
