January 1: WZRR-FM switched from the classic rock "Rock 99" format, to a modern hits format as "99.5 The Vibe".
January 1: WJOX-AM changed its name from "WJOX 690 AM" to "690 The Fan".
September: Iron City Live opened.

November 5: Vestavia Hills converted from a mayor-council government to council-manager.
