The 2007 Birmingham-Southern College Panthers football season was the first for the college since 1939. In spring 2006, the college's board of trustees voted to move from NCAA Division I scholarship sports to Division III, which is non-scholarship. With the move, new Athletic Director Joe Dean, Jr revived the football program for the 2007 season. Former Alabama Crimson Tide and Birmingham Stallions reciever Joey Jones was named the head football coach in 2006, after a successful high school coaching career. Jones built the team from scratch.
