This is a list of Birmingham homicides by year, giving the number of reported homicides within the city limits.

Notes

  1. A total of 148 were recorded in 1992, of which seven were ruled justifiable, leaving 141 on the books - a record high for recent years.
  2. A 2007 UAB study found that the percentage of victims seriously injured by violence who survived their injuries increased from 24% to 41% between 1997 and 2007. Of 2,318 people brought to UAB Hospital's trauma center over those years, 2,211 survived. (Meaning that 107 homicide victims died at UAB Hospital during those 10 years.)
