Scotty McCallum

Charles Alexander "Scotty" McCallum, Jr. (born c. 1926) is a dentist, educator, and the former President of University of Alabama at Birmingham. He was also a 2-term mayor of Vestavia Hills.

At UAB, McCallum served as dean of the UAB School of Dentistry, vice president of Health Affairs and director of the UAB Medical Center. He served as president for 7 years. On December 12, 1996 the Basic Science Education and Research Building was renamed to the McCallum Basic Health Sciences Building in his honor for his many years of service to UAB.
