Ted vonCannon

Theodore J. "Ted" vonCannon (born c. 1947 in Johnson City, Tennessee) was the president of the Metropolitan Development Board from 1988 until it merged into the Birmingham Business Alliance in 2009.

VonCannon earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Tennessee in 1969. He was deputy director of the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development for 8 years before coming to Birmingham.

As president of the MDB, VonCannon was the lead recruiter for industrial and business development in the Birmingham metropolitan area. His leadership was credited with the successful recruitment of Mercedes-Benz US International to Tuscaloosa County and Honda Motors to Lincoln, as well as numerous smaller projects.

VonCannon also sits at the board of directors for TechBirmingham

In 1992 VonCannon suffered a heart attack and had emergency bypass surgery. He is married and has three sons.
