Marvin Wise

Marvin Wise (born 1879 at Trammel Crossroads, Chambers County; died February 1, 1925 in Birmingham) was the owner of the Royal, Capitol, Odeon and Woodlawn Theatres.

Wise was the son of James Anthony and Willie Monroe Trammell Wise of Chambers County. He moved to Birmingham and soon acquired the Royal Theatre, which he built up before extending his holdings with several others.

Wise, whose residence was at 2220 Highland Avenue, was stricken with pneumonia in January 1925 and died a few days later. He was buried at Elmwood Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Sallie and three young children: Sarah, Marvin and Alice.
