The 1996 City Stages was the 8th annual edition of "Birmingham's World-Class Music Festival". 220 acts performed on 13 stages. Ticket prices remained at $15/day or $20 for a weekend pass. The estimated attendance was 265,000.
A review of the 1996 festival by John "Jazzfest Johnny" Driver raved, "It is the best lineup of any music festival in the South. Period. I don't know how they do it."
