Mamie Foster Place (previously West Avenue and 18th Place South) in Homewood is an approximately 0.2-mile, north-south road runs from half-way between Rosedale Drive and 27th Avenue through the Homewood Central Business District to 28th Avenue. Although the road does not officially extend to Rosedale Drive, a driveway at the car wash on Rosedale provides unofficial access.

Another section of the street, still known as 18th Place South, stretches one block south of 25th Court South in a residential portion of Rosedale, north of Rosedale Drive.

The road was renamed from West Avenue during the 1940s when Homewood renamed several streets to continue Birmingham's street numbering system. It was "West" in relation to Center Avenue, one block to the west. Prior to Rosedale Drive being built, the road stretched north to the intersection of Walnut Street and Lynn Boulevard. It continued north of this six-way intersection as 2nd Avenue in Rosedale.

The section south of Rosedale Drive was later renamed for Mamie Foster, a well-known school teacher in Rosedale.
