Shoney's Big Boy is a national restaurant chain. In 1971 it had five locations in Birmingham.

The downtown location, at 221-231 20th Street North, was known as a "gay friendly" late-night spot in the early 1970s.

The "Big Boy" statue from the Hoover location was stolen on April 22, 1979 and re-discovered on the roof of Berry High School two days later.
