The opening night of the festival was impacted by rain showers. Several acts were delayed and two performances were canceled. Even so, over 30,000 day tickets and nearly 20,000 weekend passes were sold, numbers which came close to meeting organizers' expectations. Nevertheless, the festival fell short of breaking even by $186,000 while still carrying $44,000 in debt from previous years.

The 2007 City Stages was the 19th annual edition of "Birmingham's World-Class Music Festival". The festival took place on nine stages around Linn Park and 5th Avenue North on June 15-17, 2007. Ticket prices were $28 for a one-day ticket (the same as 2006) and $45-$50 for a three-day pass (compared to $35 in 2006).

Finances

A campaign launched in September 2006 involved City Stages organizers partnering with Catalyst 4 Birmingham to raise $1 million to retire its debts and create a cushion for ongoing operations. Six major donors have pledged $600,000 so far, while about $150,000 has been raised in smaller increments by Catalyst. Another $300,000 for the next three years is sought from public sources.

In early June 2007, City Stages reported that it had cut it's overall debt by $795,000 to slightly more than $60,000 as it continued fund raising in the private sector. Public funding from Jefferson County Community Arts Fund was reduced by $15,000 while the city of Birmingham provided $50,000 in direct funding as well as a police security detail.

Birmingham police made 81 arrests during the festival, 64 of which involved alcohol in the hands of minors. Four attendees were arrested for drug-related charges, and four on outstanding warrants. There were three arrests for disorderly conduct and two for public intoxication.
