Jefferson County Schools

The Jefferson County School System provides public schools for students in Jefferson County except for municipalities that have formed their own school systems. The system is governed by the Jefferson County Board of Education, with its main office at 2100 18th Street South in Birmingham.

Currently the system is made up of 52 schools and employs over 2,500 teachers to educate nearly 36,000 students.
