The Palisades Shopping Center is a 290,000 square-foot shopping center located on Palisades Boulevard at Green Springs Highway. The center is located in Birmingham's Glen Iris neighborhood, adjoining the City of Homewood.

The Palisades Shopping Center was built in 1986 on the site of the former Hillcrest Country Club and golf course between Oxmoor Road and Valley Avenue. Construction of the center included building Palisades Boulevard and Palisades Drive. These roads replaced an approximately half-mile section of Oxmoor Road as a primary east-west route.

In 2002 the city of Homewood considered purchasing the shopping center for redevelopment into a municipal complex. Homewood officials were able to agree on a $16.9 million purchase price, but were unable to get Birmingham to agree to de-annex the property.

In 2006 the shopping center was sold to Retail Specialists, which planned a major renovation and the development of outparcels along Palisades Boulevard. Wal-Mart's Neighborhood Market grocery moved into the space originally occupied by Winn-Dixie.

Virginia College of Birmingham leased several spaces in the center before closing in late 2018.

The Palisades has been recommended as the location of one of two "superstop" transit centers in BJCTA's 2006-2015 Transit Development Plan.

In 2019 several parcels at the center were purchased by an affiliate of BB&T Corp. They sold the property to a company registered to Gary Pharo of The Shopping Center Group and Will Akin of Capital Growth Real Estate in March 2020 for $8.3 million. The owners proposed redeveloping the property for an automobile dealership.

In 2021 the Birmingham City Council was asked to offer a 10-year tax abatement package worth up to $2.1 million to support redevelopment of the former Virginia College campus for a Stivers Ford Bronco dealership. Stivers, which is based in St Louis, Missouri, acquired that parcel in December of that year for $6 million.
