- July 10: William Wyatt Bibb died, making his brother and President of the Senate, Thomas Bibb, Governor of Alabama.
- December 18: The General Assembly of Alabama established the University of the State of Alabama's Board of Trustees to oversee its construction and operation.
- Blountsville was established as the first county seat of Blount County.
- Cahawba County was renamed Bibb County.
- Infant Walter Drennen and his mother arrived at their homestead on the Mulberry River near Hamby's Mill.
- Trussville was established.
