Hargrove was born in Morgan County, where he attended public and normal schools. He joined the Birmingham Fire Department on January [[1907]] and was assigned to [[Birmingham Fire Station No. 3|Station No. 3]]. In November [[1912]] he was promoted to Captian of [[Birmingham Fire Station No. 7|Station No. 7]], and transferred a few months later to the same rank at [[Birmingham Fire Station No. 15|Station No. 15]]. On [[October 1]], [[1922]] he became the department's Second Assistant Chief, and was promoted to Fire Chief on [[January 15,]] [[1934]], succeeding [[Jim Akin]]. In [[1937]] he was relieved by [[Alf Brown]].

B. O. Hargrove (born February 21, 1887) served as Chief of the Birmingham Fire Department from 1934 to 1937.

Hargrove was born in Morgan County, where he attended public and normal schools. He joined the Birmingham Fire Department on January 21, 1907 and was assigned to Station No. 3. On November 5, 1912 he was promoted to Captain of Station No. 7, and transferred to the same rank at Station No. 15 on May 1, 1913. He became the department's Second Assistant Chief on October 1, 1922, and was promoted to Fire Chief on January 15, 1934, succeeding Jim Akin. In 1937 he was relieved by Alf Brown.
