Birmingham Originals is an affiliation of local independent restaurants which promotes the benefits of eating locally-grown and locally-prepared food. The group operates as the Birmingham chapter of the Council for Independent Restaurants of America (CIRA)

Birmingham Originals publishes recipes, and offers discounted gift certificates to member restaurants through its website. It also sponsors food-related events, including the Break 'N Bread culinary festival, held at Pepper Place each year since 2003. The annual event raises money to support scholarships at Culinard, educational programs at Jones Valley Urban Farm, and the operations of the Pepper Place Saturday Market.

Birmingham Originals also supports the "Corks & Chefs" tent at Magic City Art Connection.
