The powerlifting competition at the 2022 World Games took place on July 8, July 9, and July 10 in the Concert Hall at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. Powerlifting has been an event since the inaugural 1981 World Games in Santa Clara, California, and the Birmingham edition marked the eleventh time powerlifting was included as a regular event at the World Games. Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. As in the sport of Olympic weightlifting, it involves the athlete attempting a maximal weight single-lift effort of a barbell loaded with weight plates.
