- 2006: The UAB Blazers lost 31-22 to Central Florida in Orlando.
- 1990: Fire Stations No. 3, 6, 10, [[11, 12, 15, 16, 19 and 22 were added to the National Register of Historic Places.
- 1040: The Birmingham-based 106th Observation Squadron was called to active duty in advance of World War II.
- 1939: Birmingham activist Idyl King Sorsby was interred at Oak Hill Cemetery.
- 1829: Gabriel Moore succeeded John Murphy to become the 5th Governor of Alabama.
- 1825: John Murphy succeeded Israel Pickens to become the 4th Governor of Alabama.
