The UAB School of Dentistry is located at 1919 7th Avenue South in the UAB Medical Center. It was created by an act of the state legislature in 1945, the same year that the School of Medicine moved to Birmingham from the university campus in Tuscaloosa and became a four-year school. The School of Dentistry admitted its first class of students in October 1948. The current dean is Russell Taichman.
