Birmingham City Council

The Birmingham City Council is the legislative body for the City of Birmingham. It was formed in April 1963 by the passage of the Mayor-Council Act, which replaced the former Birmingham City Commission. Initially elected to at-large seats, the Council now consists of nine members representing nine individual districts and facing elections every four years.
