1971 Iron Bowl

The 1971 Iron Bowl was played on November 27, 1971 at Legion Field in Birmingham. The game was the first and only time that both teams came in to the Iron Bowl undefeated and untied.

Alabama, using its new wishbone offense, won the game 31 to 7. They went on to lose to national champion Nebraska in the Orange Bowl.
