The 2008 Iron Bowl took place on November 29, 2008. It was the 73rd contest in the series and the fifth held at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The Alabama Crimson Tide won this game 36-0 in front of 92,138 fans.

Undefeated Alabama shut down an Auburn team that came into the game with a 5-6 record. The Tigers struggled early, and Morgan Hull missed a field goal attempt at the end of the half. Tide quarterback John Parker Wilson and running back Glenn Coffee led the Tide's offense to 412 yards, compared to Auburn's 170 yards. Alabama's was the most lopsided victory since 1962. Alabama moved to 12-0 and played Florida in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta the next weekend.
