This is a List of Birmingham homicides in 2024. It includes homicide cases occurring within the city limits during the calendar year. Note that a "homicide" refers to the cause of death as determined by a medical examiner, not to the commission of the crime of murder as charged by police and prosecutors.

45 homicides have been reported in the city as of April 22. Birmingham had 150 homicides in 2023, a record high. The recent record low of 62 homicides was set in 2014. At this point in 2023, 41 homicides had been reported.

The city has averaged 12.1 homicides per month, or one every 2.5 days.

3 of the reported homicides have been ruled justifiable as self-defense by investigators or prosecutors, and 2 deaths resulted from crimes committed in previous years. With the exception of those cases, the department acknowledges 39 chargeable homicides in 2024. Suspects have been identified in 24 cases, arrested in 22 and charged in 18.

At least 41 deaths so far have resulted from shootings, 1 from a vehicle collision, 1 from arson, 1 from bodily assault, and 1 from undetermined causes. 12 incidents occurred at private homes, 1 outside an apartment complex, 4 at businesses, and 26 on the streets. 2 bodies were found dumped, with the scene of the death unclear.

1 homicide took place during a robbery, and 3 others took place during kidnappings. 4 appeared to be targeted assaults, 1 was an apparent accident, and 11 resulted from arguments, 6 of which were domestic disputes. The motives for 26 other homicides have not been reported.
