- 2013: The "Before I die" art installation was erected on the 14th Street South side of the Wood Wade building.
- 2012: Trussville landmark Velma's Place lost their lease.
- 2008: Ridgecrest Baptist Church dedicated its new sanctuary in Trussville.
- 2006: Engineer Linda Figg presented schematic designs of an elevated tollway over U.S. Highway 280 to the Progress 280 Task Force.
- 1991: St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church dedicated the first building at its current facility.
- 1973: Rosalette Petty of Hawai'i was crowned Miss Black Teenage World at the inaugural pageant in Birmingham.
- 1949: The Birmingham Business League, Birmingham Emancipation Association and the NAACP organized a protest at which approximately 2,000 Black residents protested at Smithfield Court for an end to list of racially motivated bombings. The crowd approved resolutions in favor of expanding real estate sales to Black buyers, and expressed support for the work of attorney Arthur Shores.
- 1945: The Birmingham Age-Herald resumed publication after a five-week printer's strike.
- 1887: Educator A. H. Parker arrived in Birmingham.
