Tenth Avenue South (originally Alabama Street, Avenue J, Juniper Avenue, Summit Avenue and East Alabama Avenue) is an east-west corridor in Birmingham's Southside.

The main section stretches from 4th Street South in Glen Iris east through the UAB Campus, to 22nd Street South at the corner of Brother Bryan Park. The section between 10th and 11th Streets was originally Alabama Street.

10th Avenue South picks up again a block east as a continuation of Magnolia Avenue. It runs under the Elton B. Stephens Expressway and behind St Vincent's Medical Center, then continues two blocks to 30th Street South (a stretch formerly called Juniper Avenue).

On the east side of Highland Park, 10th Avenue South (formerly Summit Avenue) continues through Forest Park until it bends into Linwood Road. An unconnected stretch picks up at 52nd Street South in Crestwood, and turns to intersect Crestwood Boulevard between 57th and 58th Streets. In East Lake fragments of 10th Avenue South, formerly East Alabama Avenue can be found between 79th Street South and Glendale Drive, near the boundary of the Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve.

10th Avenue South between 19th and 21st Street forms the original northern boundary of the Five Points South Historic District. Between Highland Park and Linwood Road, the avenue is within the Forest Park Historic District.

The section of 10th Avenue South between 20th and 34th Streets suffered damage from the March 25, 1901 Birmingham tornado.

In August 2018 a section of the road from 8th Street South to 12th Street South was converted from 4-lane traffic to 2-lane traffic with the addition of bike lanes in the former right lanes. At each intersection and various driveways, bike lanes are painted green and feature symbols painted in white to alert drivers to the presence of cyclists. Future plans include extending the bike lanes from 12th Street South to 18th Street South.
