Revision as of 17:58, 29 December 2023

22nd Street North is a one-way north-south street running southbound through downtown Birmingham. The street begins as a continuation of 22nd Street South over the 22nd Street Viaduct over the Railroad Reservation. From there it continues north, under I-20/59 and through the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex and Norwood until terminating just beyond 15th Avenue North behind the former Carraway Hospital.

Another section of 22nd Street begins at 24th Avenue North, north of Village Creek, and continues across Finley Boulevard before ending at 25th Avenue Baptist Church. It resumes at 26th Avenue North for a little more than one block before it is interrupted again by the Ensley Branch Railroad. It continues across 29th Avenue North, through North Birmingham to 36th Avenue North and the campus of Carver High School. Another section picks up north of I-65 as a continuation of Trax Drive and stops before reaching Five Mile Creek near Flat Hill Baptist Church in Washington Heights.
