- 1944: The USS Birmingham (CL-62) left the Mare Island Navy Yard after repairs.
- 1907: George Ward was re-elected Mayor of Birmingham.
- 1904: Giuseppe Moretti arrived in Birmingham, but was not met at the Union Station and had to find his own way to the Commercial Club's offices in the National Bank of Birmingham building.
- 1893: A mass meeting of workingmen was held at Erswell's Hall to draft a resolution in support of John McQueen's garnishment bill, then under consideration by the Alabama State Legislature.
