Montgomery Highway is the name given to the approximately 3-1/3 mile stretch of U.S. Highway 31 in the Vestavia Hills city limits. It extends from the crest of Shades Mountain in the north to Interstate 65 in the south. The majority of the road is a four-lane, split highway.

The north-south highway between Birmingham and Montgomery has been known as Montgomery Highway even prior to its designation as part of Highway 31. While some municipalities have renamed the road within their borders, Vestavia Hills, along with its neighbor, Hoover, and others, have not.
