This is a List of Birmingham homicides in 2022. It includes homicide cases occurring within the city limits during the calendar year. Note that a "homicide" refers to the cause of death as determined by a medical examiner, not to the commission of the crime of murder as charged by police and prosecutors.

51 homicides have been reported in the city as of May 15, putting the city on pace for 138 for the year. Based on the 2020 census count of 200,733 population, that represents a homicide rate of 68.7 homicides per 100,000 residents. Birmingham had 141 homicides in 2021. The recent record low of 62 homicides was set in 2014, and the recent record high was 148 in 1992. At this point in 2021, 44 homicides had been reported.

The city has averaged 11.4 homicides per month, or one every 2.6 days. There were 10 incidents in January, 14 in February, 8 in March, 14 in April and 4 so far in May. The longest stretch without a homicide was the 14-day span between January 14–28. 9 deaths were reported on Sundays, 6 on Mondays, 5 on Tuesdays, 8 on Wednesdays, 3 on Thursdays, 7 on Fridays, and 12 on Saturdays.

One death came at the hands of police, and 4 other reported homicides were ruled justifiable as self-defense by investigators or prosecutors. In one case murder charges were filed against an accomplice of the homicide victim rather than the shooter. Another case was investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office rather than Birmingham police. With the exception of those, the department acknowledges 44 chargeable homicides, none of which were charged as manslaughter. Suspects have been identified in 16 cases, arrested in 13 and charged in 11.

48 deaths so far have resulted from shootings, 2 from blunt-force trauma, and one from unannounced causes. 7 incidents occurred outside at apartment complexes, 15 at private homes, 1 at a business, 1 at a private club, 2 at private parking lots, and 23 on the streets. 26 deaths were reported in the West Precinct, 10 in the East Precinct, 4 in the South Precinct and 10 in the North Precinct.

15 deaths came during altercations, at least 5 of which were apparently domestic in nature. 16 appeared to have been targeted assaults; one took place during a robbery; 2 were carried out in self-defense; 1 was a police shooting; and 1 came from a stray bullet. A motive in 14 other deaths has not been publicized.

42 victims were male and 8 were female. 1 has not been identified by gender.
