1988: Air New Orleans ceased operating.
1960: Barber James Armstrong filed "Armstrong v. Board of Education of Birmingham" in federal court, leading to the system's racial desegregation three years later.
1959: Killough Springs was annexed into Birmingham by a vote of residents held the previous day.
1950: A. D. King married Naomi Barber in Atlanta, Georgia.
1946: The Birmingham Bird Club was incorporated.
1922: David McLendon, W. B. Cloe and W. E. Dickson of the Birmingham City Commission were indicted by a Jefferson County Grand Jury on charges of violating the Alabama Corrupt Practices Act of 1915 by promising city posts to supporters.
1911: The Holy Innocents Hospital (Children's Hospital) was founded.
1893: Mrs Willis' Boarding House in Avondale was destroyed by fire.
