6th Avenue South (Sixth Avenue South, formerly Avenue F) is a major east-west corridor across downtown Birmingham's Southside.

6th Avenue South begins at Center Street as a continuation of the 4-lane 6th Avenue Southwest, which terminates eight blocks west at Martin Luther King Jr Drive and the entrance to Elmwood Cemetery. The western section of 6th Avenue South divides North Titusville from South Titusville. From there it passes under I-65 and proceeds through the UAB campus and across the City Center, passing below Elton B. Stephens Expressway

Between 34th and 37th Street South it divides the Southside neighborhood from Forest Park-South Avondale. It continues from there as a 2-lane residential street, interrupted between 40th and 42nd Streets by Avondale Park. Beyond that, there are several discontinuous sections through East Avondale, Crestwood North, Oak Ridge Park, East Lake, and South East Lake, none of which intersect with any major thoroughfares. The last portion of 6th Avenue South terminates at 85th Street South, near the former Banks High School.

Notable locations (west to east)
